Battlelines is Travel Prospects’ dedicated department offering Military Tours of Distinction for enthusiasts. We have a keen interest and extensive knowledge of world military history and it is on that basis that Battlelines was created. We love to share with clients both our knowledge and enthusiasm for historical military tours. We can take you to Gallipoli, Waterloo, riding on horse back across Boer War South Africa or trekking the Kokoda Trail. Heavy consideration goes into tours especially catering for the Australian history enthusiast to visit. You can experience the regions that Australians fought and died in, the stories of heroic successes and tragic gallant defeats. There is not one person, organization or tour operator that can profess to have full knowledge of the many campaigns that Australians served in especially the Boer War and World War I as everyone personally involved has sadly passed away. It is down to knowledge, hearsay and extensive studies complied over many years from both literature and personal visits that we are proud to offer our Military Tours of Distiction. David Wright, Managing Director of Travel Prospects, has extensive knowledge of military history and personal experience on some of the battle tours. He traveled to Northern France over 10 times visiting all the Australian sites as well as Waterloo. In Asia, David has also traveled to the River Kwai, Sandakan and Singapore. David’s family tree follows back down to his Great Grand fathers who fought in WWI (like many Australian families heritage) but added to the fact that one of his Great Grand Fathers, Arthur Lines, served in and around Villers Bretonneux and stayed on in France to marry a local French girl from Villers Bretonneux (the site of our Australian National memorial cemetery and where in 1918 the Australians fighting as an “Australian Army” stopped the German advance and turned the tide of the war. Arthur Lines due to his personal relationship stayed on in France after the war and served in the Graves Unit to assist with the construction and burial of the Australians in our cemetries before return to Australia. Battlelines not only offers tours regarding Australian involvement but can also arrange tours on Napoleonic, American Civil War, War of Independence and a large range of other points of interest.
